Michigan’s success over the last several years has been mainly due to its priority of dominating the line of scrimmage. With Sherrone Moore in charge, this focus will stay the same. The Wolverines 2025 recruiting class proves this program has placed a premium on securing the best talent in the trenches.
On Monday, the Wolverines secured a major victory with the commitment of one of their top defensive line targets, Jaylen Williams. Williams, a 6’6”, 265-pound four-star prospect from Palentine High School in Illinois, chose Michigan over Texas A&M, Tennessee, and Nebraska, as well as offers from Ohio State, Oregon, Florida State, Auburn, and over 30 other Power 4 schools.
Michigan’s 2025 Recruiting Class
With the addition of Jaylen Williams, the Wolverines’ 2025 recruiting class now has six commitments, three of which are defensive linemen. This trio, consisting of Williams, Nathaniel Marshall (Fenwick), and Bobby Kanka (Howell), is a promising sign of Michigan’s future as a strong contender.

EFN Player Evaluation
Jaylen possesses all the physical tools that Power 4 schools desire. His size, length, and wingspan make him one of the most impressive prospects in his class. Jaylen’s versatility allows him to play off the edge or move inside when needed. He poses a significant threat to opposing offenses in a variety of ways. He can outmaneuver offensive tackles on the outside with his speed or shoot the inside gap. Jaylen’s defensive prowess is outstanding, making it challenging for quarterbacks to throw over him. He disrupts plays by batting balls down. Jaylen’s strength is a force to be reckoned with, capable of collapsing a pocket and overpowering offensive linemen.
2024 Season
Williams’ high school finished 6-4 in 2023 and should make a deeper run in the 8A Illinois playoffs this season. He was invited to play in the Army All-American Game in December.
Michigan will continue to add depth and talent to its 2025 recruiting class. For now, Michigan fans will enjoy knowing Williams will be wearing maize and blue in the future.
