Gavin Sawchuk plays on one of the best teams in Colorado with Valor Christian and has proven himself to be one of the top players in the state. The Class of 2022 star helped his squad to a 10-2 record and almost a State Championship berth, as they lost a heartbreaking game to the eventual state runners-up.
2019 Success
Sawchuk is 5’11” and 175 pounds, and was one of the best running backs in the state as only a Sophomore. After proving he was an impact player as a freshman, he exploded onto the scene in 2019. He rushed for 1786 yards and 23 touchdowns on 197 carries. He added on 13 catches for 143 yards as well for good measure.
EFN Evaluation
Gavin is lightning quick out of the backfield and can score any time he touches the ball. He is great at bouncing it outside and has very solid vision which allows him to hit the hole hard. Not only does he pose a huge threat running the ball, but he has also shown that he can make plays through the air and defenses must take that into account.
Gavin has a long offer list, with 25 schools already tossing their hats in the ring for the Class of 2022 star. Some of the favorites to land him are Oklahoma and Oregon, but he has plenty more from which to choose. Schools like Alabama, Florida, Michigan, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Penn State, Stanford, USC, Washington, and Wisconsin are just some of the many schools hoping he ends up on their roster.
With all the early success, Sawchuk has also earned himself a roster spot on the Army All-American team for the 2022 game.
Spending the year with one of the top teams in the state, Sawchuk had the chance to play with and against some of the best competition around. He was a rare 1st Team All-State player as a sophomore, and with his skill set, he will help Valor Christian be a contender for the next two years as well.
