Darrius Clemons is a rising junior that has quickly established himself as one of the top 2022 prospects in Oregon High School football. The wide receiver was an impact player as only a sophomore for the Westview Wildcats, and he will have the chance to continue that success in the coming year.
Clemons is 6’3” 185-pounds and his first two years in high school were very eye-opening for colleges across the country. He is now ranked the top player in the 2022 class in all of Oregon and his stats this year reflect that decision. His 2019 season was stellar as he ended with 42 receptions, 722 yards, and 10 touchdowns.
EFN EVALUATION
Clemons is a guy to whom Westview is not afraid to throw the ball up in his direction and let him make a play on it. His jump ball prowess and ability to make plays near the sideline and endzone make him a great red zone threat. He can also run by defenders. Clemons takes pride on his downfield blocking, as he regularly makes the play on the outside, allowing their backs to break plays when they bounce it on his side of the field.
NATIONAL ATTENTION
His abilities have garnered him multiple offers as he has 19 total with many being from top power 5 schools. He has gotten a lot of attention from Big Ten country, as Michigan, Minnesota, Penn State, Michigan State, Northwestern and Nebraska have all offered him at this point.
Westview struggled in 2019, ending the year 2-8, but Darrius was a bright spot on the team. When the ball was thrown in his direction, he consistently made plays, and with a young squad last year, as only a junior in 2020 he will be a leader that the team looks to, to help get them back on a winning track.
THE FUTURE IS BRIGHT
With two more years of High School football yet to come, Darrius is a guy that will be watched carefully as one of the top players in Oregon. If he is able to help the Wildcats improve this year, he will get even more exposure in the college ranks.
