On May 29, Class of 2021 linebacker Chaz Chambliss announced his decision to commit to the Georgia Bulldogs in a video released on his social media. With no words said, he silently placed a Bulldogs hat on his head, and that was enough to seal the deal.

Scholarship Opportunities
Despite accumulating 22 offers including Clemson, Michigan, Notre Dame, and Ohio State, he ultimately felt most wanted and comfortable in Athens. The relationship with the coaching staff has been years in the making, starting with him receiving an offer from them the spring of his freshman year. He has been in constant communication with them ever since.
The 6’3, 240 lbs 4-star linebacker from Carrollton, GA is described as an “old man” and “nerd” by his coaches off the field in light of his morning cup of straight black coffee, 3.9 GPA with honors and AP classes, and little to no interest in hobbies such as social media, video games, or anything outside of hunting.
On the field, the coaches describe him as “the most physical and aggressive player to be around” with reports from rival teams being afraid of him reflecting that.
The ratings and awards demonstrate his dominance; he is ranked as the No. 18 linebacker in the country, was named an Atlanta Football Defensive Player of the Year Nominee, and earned 2019 1st Team Defense All-State (5A) honors.
Statistics
The soon to be two-time team captain, appointed by his peers, gave a sneak peek of what he’s capable of during the 2019 season recording 87 tackles (58 solo) and 16.5 sacks, ruthlessly chasing down quarterbacks and ball-carriers all season long for Carrollton High. He has accumulated 253 career tackles and 69 stops for losses in three varsity seasons.
The Trojans ended their 2019 season with a 10-0 record and a playoff berth. Chambliss and Carollton will kick off their 2020 season in August against Cedartown.
