The Class of 2022 prospects have had a challenging time over the last year and a half when it comes to getting recruited. They missed out on going to college 1-day camps after their sophomore season and most are anxiously awaiting this year’s camps in June.
There are a lot of under recruited players, Power 5 sleepers, and prospects that just haven’t been fully evaluated yet. A player that falls into all 3 of these categories is Mike DePillo.
DePillo is a 6’6 215-pound quarterback in the 2022 class from Clarkston High School in Michigan. The Wolves are known for producing big time players and have a strong tradition of winning state championships and being a powerhouse program.
2020 Season
In 2020, DePillo threw for 1,046 yards, 7 touchdowns, and completed just shy of 60% of his passes, playing eight games. He was also a huge threat scrambling out of the pocket and using his athleticism to move the chains. He rushed for 473 yards on 76 carries and scored 9 rushing touchdowns. His team had a 7-1 overall record.
As a result, DePillo earned 1st Team All-OAA Red Division postseason honors. The OAA Red is arguably the toughest and most talented conference in the state with West Bloomfield, Oak Park, Southfield, Lake Orion, and Oxford. The Wolves were the only team to beat West Bloomfield, the Division 1 State Champions in 2020.
Strengths
“My strengths as a prospect are my size, athleticism, football IQ, and my leadership skills on and off the field,” said DePillo.
As a student, he excels off the gridiron as well. He currently has a 3.4 overall GPA in the classroom and will study Exercise Science in college.
“Mike is a great person that everyone respects. He has great football sense and is a very good athlete. He will need to be more of our vocal leader this season with Delli (Garrett Dellinger/LSU) and Rocco (Spindler/Notre Dame) gone,” said head coach Kurt Richardson.
Recruiting Status
When it comes to recruiting, DePillo has picked up nice offers from Central Michigan and Bowling Green State University. He has also been communicating a lot with Ball State and Miami Ohio.
DePillo does want to go to college camps this summer since he hasn’t been to any during his high school career. He will be finalizing his summer schedule over the next 3 weeks.
EFN Evaluation
As a quarterback prospect, DePillo is an impressive-looking athlete with his size and athletic ability. He is every bit of 6’6 and has been running in the high 4.6’s. As a passer, he is accurate with a soft touch (see workout) and the ability to put some heat on it when he needs to and on certain throws. He has the arm talent to throw the deep ball and does well in play-action situations. On film, he showed off his mobility, can extend plays, and keeps the defense on their toes with his ability to run. DePillo is also a talented basketball player and was a starter this winter.

Summer & The Big House
This summer a lot of prospects will make huge strides with their recruiting status now that they can workout for college coaches. DePillo is one of them, and is ready to prove his worth on the camp circuit.
The Wolves open up at the Big House at the University of Michigan playing Davison on August 27. Davison won the Division 1 State Championship in 2019 and was a finalist in 2020 after losing to West Bloomfield.
