Coming from Narbonne High School in California, senior linebacker Jordan Banks is one of the most exciting prospects in the 2020 recruiting class. Standing at 6’3, 243 lbs, Banks played his first two years of high school football at Grace Brethren, where he earned 2017 All-CIF Southern Section Division 8 honors as a sophomore. Now transferred into Narbonne, Banks played at defensive end and outside linebacker last season, where he recorded 61 total tackles, 20 tackles for loss, 13 sacks, and 4 pass breakups. His phenomenal year led the Gauchos to a fifth consecutive City Section Football championship and an overall record of 10-4.
The Gauchos had a fantastic year, and that was largely due to the presence of Banks. He has become one of the top names in the 2020 recruiting class, getting offers from numerous Power five schools. His top five right now consists of Oklahoma, Alabama, Washington, and Ohio State, while the fifth slot remains open. Leading the race among this pack is Oklahoma, followed closely by the Crimson Tide and Huskies. Jordan’s recruitment will certainly be one to keep a close eye on this season.
It’s no real surprise that Banks is being recruited so heavily, as he claimed the number three spot on our defensive end rankings in California, coming out with a 93 overall rating. He has a relentless motor and the ability to line up at multiple spots. He also has the strength, speed, and quickness that makes it almost impossible for him to be blocked. Banks’ quick hands allow him to blow by opposing defenders, while his chase down speed gives him the ability to catch any running back. He also possesses excellent instincts and awareness, being able to pinpoint where the ball is and get to it quickly.
Jordan has the potential to be a monster at the next level with his athleticism and versatility. His recruitment will be one to look out for, as he continues to dominate the high school ranks at Narbonne high school.
