ESN PLAYER EVALUATION/NOTES
Lemuel is one of the top athletes in Michigan for the 2020 recruiting class. He will be a 4-year varsity starter in 2019. He played his first 2 years at East English then Detroit King as a junior. He now transferred to Harper Woods to be back with his old head coach, Rod Oden. Neely-Watley played receiver and defensive back last fall, helping Detroit King win the Division 3 state championship, getting in on six tackles in a 41-25 title game win over Muskegon at Ford Field. As a receiver, he can turn on the jets after a catch and is a smooth route runner. He is a dangerouse weapon that can do a lot of things to help the offense score touchdowns. On defense, he is a polished DB fundamentally and has excellent instincts and ball skills. He is solid coming up against the run and breaks well on the ball at CB. A great all-around prospect. Power 5 recruit.
Postseason Honors/Statistics/Other NOTES
Neely-Watley put himself on the radar his sophomore year while playing at Detroit East English where he had 53 receptions for 747 yards and 11 touchdowns, also getting seven interceptions and breaking up 13 passes on the defensive end. “Lemuel is so versatile where he can play wide receiver, cornerback, safety,” Rod Oden said. “He can play running back, too He can do so much for a team and he can perform at a high level at all of them. He’s grinding right now, putting the work in.”
